Work In Progress (W.I.P) Wednesday

This week has been very successful for my Etsy store  I’ve had 3 orders total of 4 orders when I opened it back in July I thought it might be a fun way to make some money. I love loom knitting and yarn so I said why not really the past few days I have been replicating stuff that I have sold in my store so I have even more. So this leads me into today’s post Work In Progress  Wednesday …

This is a fun and easy pattern for a shawl/scarf its called the Dewdrop Shawl there is a video for it too its by Kristen Mangus. I am only one row 44 now I think I am going to stop at 80 rows this time I just don’t think I have enough yarn for 100. The color way is Tapestry and its Red Heart Treasure. When I am finished I will hang it after blocking it to show how this lays.

My next project has been sitting on the loom for almost a year. Its the Knitting Board Sock Loom. Been listening to a lot of knitting podcast(s). They talk about socks well I feel most of them do and I know that they needle knit. But you can do it on the sock loom too. I’m getting the hang of needle knitting but not at the point yet where I can use DPN’s to knit socks. Here is my sock in Lionbrand Sockease Green Apple.

Lastly since I started a scarf this week on 10.5 circ knitting needles I wanted to show my progress since I last posted. Here it is and it is coming along nicely. Not bad dfor a start.

Adventures in Needle Knitting

So because I have been loom knitting for 2 years now I decided its time to expand my skills into needle knitting. I was taught by my mother in law and my mother but I never fully got it until I watched the GoodKnitKisses YouTube Channel this is where I learned most of my loom knitting as well (beyond ewrap and figure 8) So I have been itching to make something out of this one colorway I think its called folklore. I got it at Michaels.  I am proud to say I finally mastered it, my next task was to do yarn overs,  Icould do them on the loom why not on needles.

Here are  a few pictures …

Blanket Project: First One Done!

Its only taken me a few months but I finally have 1 blanket off of my mind. It is made out of Lion Brand Homespun in Rococo. Must admit with being on the loom it gives it stretch and an inaccurate reading when I went to measure. It turns out it is 64×54 usually I knit till I run out of yarn but I didn’t want it to be to big. Next time I intend to make the blanket loom a little bigger. This was my first experimentation with the homespun yarn.

So here are some pictures to show you.

On Going Blanket Project

I haven’t updated since August on the blanket task I have taken on I have almost 1 blanket complete and on the second one I have about a 3rd done I have taken some pictures and decided to share so here they are ..

I admit I got bored with the Martha Loom so I switched to my new S loom from Authentic Knitting Board. Its a nice loom and its compact more then the one I built with my Martha Loom. The only one  issue I have with it is that the pegs come out as I am working so it slows the process down. I have to find some way to work on this blanket faster to get it done. Also, its a tighter gauge so  I am thinking more skeins for this one as you see I am about a third of the way done on here …

This is  the first blanket I started on my Martha Loom the loom I built is 100 pegs in the round and I forgot to mention that these blankets are made in the flat panel method.  This one is almost finished with about 40 more rows to go add another 15 on that to finish the border and I will be finished with it.

After these 2 I have another couple to go then I am finished. I am trying to get the Martha one done so I can start on the 3rd one … The goal is Christmas I will have these done.

Charity Knitting and Craft Shows

So a little bit more about me. When I knit, I usually knit for the fall. Here where I live there is a craft show its held by my Sister and Brother in law at their Bed and Breakfast here in Red Lion.

Grandmas Holiday Crafts usually takes place mid November to the beginning of December.  I participated the past 3 years I have lived here, I usually make some hats, scarves, and flower pins to sell. After the craft show I donate what is left to charity.

This year since I listen to a lot of podcast(s). My best friend got me addicted to them. There is a Charity called Halos of Hope. They have called out to the podcast community to collect hats for in need  chemo patients. The Knotty Girls Knitcast and the Knitmore Girls have a competition going on on who can donate the most hats between one another. If you make a hat the month of September for the Knotty Girls Knitcast and post it in their Ravelry  group they will send you a free pattern. A lot of them are knitted. Since I am a novice knitter but advanced loom knitter I am going to take up in the challenge. I hope you join me in this good cause.

Today is Work in Progress Wednesday .. Whats on your craft list?

I will share with you what I am currently working on ..

Last month I took on a task to make 4 blankets by Christmas for an order. I believe this is totally doable especially since I am looming them. I am currently almost halfway through the first blanket and can’t wait to get this one done because I have gotten a new afghan loom I want to try but I am pacing myself doing them right now currently I am getting 10″ per skein here is a picture ..

Secondly, I am working on a skinny scarf called the triple flip. It almost looks ribbed and would be nice as a cowl I have put this away for awhile but recently picked it up again to change up my progress on the blanket

Lastly, my third project is a set of finger less gloves and leggings that I have made in the past for my etsy store which will be for sale in the next few days.

Hello and Welcome!

I am excited to launch this blog dedicated to my crafts.

I have been crafting on looms for about 2 years. Recently I learned how to needle knit. I also know how to crochet but looming is faster and I prefer it more.

I have an Etsy store where you can purchase my crafts. These items are listed under the Store page right here on the site.

I look forward to creating custom, hand-made crafts for everyone.
